About The Artist
Abstract
I am inspired by Energy - The one of Creativity - The one that God Created.
As an artist and architect I work compositions that integrate natural landscapes, architectural perceived surroundings and elements that seam to radiate spacial vitality. artistically compromised yet architecturally charged, the art represents a resilient creative energy that exists in constant flux. The art is fluid and occupied with vigorous strokes attempting to exhibit a healing energy inside settings of perpetual activity.
Inside my art, the artist and the architect coexist trying to reconcile a dilemma posed by the rush of two energizing cultures – Latin and North American – presenting environments that suggest that all nature belongs to no one and everyone at the same time. Ultimately the art urgently proposes an output of architectural resiliency while creating a visual and emotional reconciliation between the chaos of imaginary worlds suggesting better lives and responsible living.
Artist
I was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela where I lived until the age of nineteen and then moving to the United States. I attended art and architecture schools before relocating to the USA and eventually received a master’s degree in Architecture from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have practiced architecture in various firms in the metropolitan area of Detroit and currently work as an educator and self-supporting artist and designer. As a brain cancer survivor I continue to paint, draw and dream as I intend to give back a creative therapy of dreaming and painting dreams.
Art
I work in acrylic on canvas and fiberboard using modeling paste, graphite, pencils, and pastels as well as found objects for my architectural assemblies. Additionally, I find inspiration in textures and languages found in Mother Nature, the sounds of music, human emotions and most importantly, Christianity. I hope to create artwork that reflects conditions of resiliency, survival and adaptation through my incessant occupations of teacher, architect, artist and human being. The art is tectonic, thorny and visually alive. An architectural art that simply and purely speaks the same language:
ONIRIC: Pertaining to dreams.
