The Beginning

The Beginning is a composition of 5 photographs taken along different shorelines of the Pacific Ocean. This composition measures 44x30in. The photograph is printed on Fujipearl paper, then face-mounted on Plexiglass. 1/8 Plexiglass face-mounted, ¼ Sintra back mounted and wood base hanging system. In this composite piece, I play with the concept of time and reality. The beguiling light upon the shore won’t reveal what time of day or night we are seeing. The sky is a swirl of clear and threatening. The distant land mass we think we see is really a bank of clouds. The small pockets of bubbling sea foam in the foreground suggests the beginning of time itself, with the promise that whole universes of complexity, mystery and misdirection can be recreated over and over again to gorgeous, mystifying effect.
