Flights Of The Imagination II

0.0 x 0.0

Inspiration behind Flights Of The Imagination II I am always drawn to sculpting the human form in dynamic poses such as those created by sportsmen, gymnastics, circus, dance etc. Flights Of The Imagination II is inspired by a rugby flying tackle. Now that I had a composition in mind I now began looking for a surface covering that would go with a wall mounted papier mache in the shape of a flying tackle. I am a big fan of Leonardo De Vinci’s art and in one of my reference books I came across some of his flying machine designs. From there I researched and collected a selection of his most iconic flying machine designs and then had them reproduced so that I could apply them to a papier mache & mixed media wall mounted base. I apply the images in such a way as to create the impression of muscles, definition and shading. Leonardo’s designs were never actually realized hence the title of the sculpture Flights Of The Imagination. This sculpture is the second in the series using Leonardo’s drawings.
