About The Artist

Fukase is a photographer in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1923. Although she started out photographing landscapes and scenery, extended travel abroad led her to learn about the lives of people in different environments who must use their ingenuity to the maximum, merely to survive. Recognizing their magnificence, Fukase now photographs people.
