About The Artist
Kay is an Associate of the Royal Art Society of NSW has been painting professionally on a full time basis since 2000. Her work is featured in 2014 “International Contemporary Artists” VOl IX, NY/European Gallery and Museum Guide. Other publications include Australian Artist Magazine, Look Magazine - Art Gallery of NSW, Hunter Lifestyle Magazine.
Kay has exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions in both galleries and art prizes and is a popular tutor and demonstrator. She works mainly in oil and watercolour however has won many awards in a variety of media (see www.kaymcfarlanesmith.com) including the following recent major 1st Awards :2018 Newcastle Art Prize-Seascape; 2017 INSPIRE-Contemporary; 2017 Scone Art Prize-Watercolour: 2016 Dobell Award for Best In Show (Dobell festival); 2015 prestigious Norville Landscape Prize – winner Arts Council Prize and Peoples Choice Award; Australian Artist Magazine National Art Challenge finalist and 3rd place 2013 and 2012; winner of the Toyota Port Stephens Prize in 2011, 2012 and 2014; Winner Industrial/Marine -Newcastle Art prize 2014.
Works are represented in private, corporate and civic collections in Australian and in private collections in Japan, US, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Oman, China and England.
