20" high x 30" wide oil on canvas The bordello was slow that night. Matrice knew that Mr. Jackson was due to arrive. She had been waiting for hours. Her boss signed her out so that she could wait for her "Mr. Jackson", so there she sat in the room he had requested, waiting for him. She had on the hat he bought her. He insisted on her wearing the hat whenever he visited her. She would keep it on throughout their meeting, as long as possible. Mr. Jackson was very late. Matrice was used to waiting. Her whole life was spent waiting for others to tell her what to do; Mr. Jackson was just another dictator. My stories continue in my head...Ione Citrin
