About The Artist

I grew up in the town of Idyllwild, in the San Jacinto Mountains of Southern California. In 2005 while teaching philosophy at the University of Stellenbosch, I started to study painting in Cape Town, South Africa, with instructors affiliated with the Michaelis School of Fine Arts: Lynne Lomofsky, Paul Birchall, and Jill Trappler. My work began as German expressionist, infuenced by the paintings of Franz Marc that I remembered looking at when I was a child. Over time I experimented with other styles of art (abstract expressionism, constructivism) and tried combinations of media such as collage, film, sculpture, but in the end have returned to my passion for post-impressionist painting. I live with my husband and son in Idyllwild and am an enthusiastic hockey goal tender.
