HOPE BROOKS, Painter - Born June 22, 1944, Kingston, Jamaica. Qualifications: DA (drawing and painting) Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland UK, 1967, MFA, (art education) Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore USA,1982. She is retired Vice Principal of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Kingston Jamaica having joined the staff of the College in1967 and rose to the position of Vice Principal of the College in 2005. She has had eleven one person exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in the past forty years the most recent being the XI Florence Biennale in 2017. Her awards include the Institute of Jamaica Silver Musgrave Medal for contribution to the development of art in Jamaica. Her work has been published in the Thames and Hudson World of Art series titled “Caribbean Art”, amount others.
