Artwork Description

Sharbat

0.0 x 0.0

This painting was made portraying the famous Afghan Girl whose picture was taken by Steve McCurry. It is the central painting of my series dedicated to women eyes and to the stories they have to tell. While all other women portrayed were famous for artistic reasons and I painted them in a pop-art way, Sharbat is the only hyperrealistic one because I could have not portrayed her in any other way as she has become a symbol of women and children facing war and so her painting needed to be as real as possible. It is a 50x70 acrylic/airbrush on canvas.
