About The Artist


Born in Neiva (Huila-Colombia); 1973. Actually resides in Lake Mary, Fl.(USA) Pilar's main style is Figurative expressionist, based on sequence of faces and symbols; in other times, Abstract expressionist with an unpredictable work; her subject varies in the search and recognition of aboriginal cultures to the stories behind people found in daily life. Also the exaltation of music and her encounters with spiritually saying that" Life is an experience full of emotions, stories and facts which we learn through time". After years, she has been exploring with different processes and creating through acrylics which include on canvas, wood, paper and recycled materials as X-ray film and insulation panels. Currently Pilar's work is vibrant, harmonious with the time in permanent evolution, creativity and inspiration, full of color and light, leaving her art setting in the memory of the observer; as a deeply believer that is possible to give love, hope and happiness through art and where mind, body and soul can heal, her recently work is attached with this purpose, sharing the journey and call back to the simple and truly important in life, such family, home, ancestors, respecting nature and taking time to appreciate little things around us and believing every day we have a new opportunity to fight for what really matters. ​ Her artwork has earned important distinction in exhibitions in Florida, Spain and Colombia as well. MPilar's artwork was selected by the Board of Orlando City Hall to represent her Country in the collective art exhibition of the 8th.Proclamation of Hispanic Heritage celebrated in 2014; also, she was invited by The Huila Museum of Contemporary Art and supported by the Governor and the Secretary of Culture of the region to present her series "Alma del Huila"(Huil'as Soul) as part of the program of the 54th International Festival of Bambuco which has been declared Cultural Patrimony of the Nation(Colombia).
