About The Artist
Sylvia Bandyke, from Royal
Oak, MI, USA, uses the collage format to integrate associated images into a
cohesive unit that is even more compelling because of the embedded story.
Having been a playwright and technical writer, she is used to delivering
content with a message. Now as a visual communicator, Bandyke continues to
provide meaning via the structure of the collage format, wherein the four
photos confirm, augment or even contradict each other if warranted. Bandyke
enjoys offering the richness that the multiplicity of images provides along with
the impact gained through thoughtful positioning of them. Each collage is approximately
14" x 14" framed. She began
her career by displaying in ArtPrize, Grand Rapids, MI, 2014-2018. Subsequently she was juried into many
exhibitions in MI to include those of the
Artists’ Society of Dearborn, Northville Art House, Detroit Scarab Club, Lawrence
Street Gallery, Grosse Pointe Artists Association, Detroit Artists Market (won
six awards at various shows). At
present, Bandyke has been juried into over 100 group exhibits at galleries in 23
other states from coast to coast, such as Rhode Island Center for Photographic
Art in Providence and HMVC Gallery in New York City to Las Laguna Gallery and
San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center.
She continues to be juried into and win awards in the online
international shows of Light Space & Time and Fusion Art.
