About The Artist
The naked body, despite our pudeur to go public with it, is the most natural form in which we can appear. Strangely enough, over the centuries, civilization in man has increasingly concealed and fraught the body with trepidation. I want to get this body out of the shadows, by using the shadow. Man, woman, old, young, fleshy or tight, that doesn't matter at all. It's not about aesthetics per se. It is the naturalness or the expression of the pose that I want to be able to represent essentially. The language of the body, every posture, gesture is meaningful and worth showing. Unsophisticated, visible, but without imposing or shocking. In terms of technique, I resolutely go for charcoal: the clear-obscure effect can be vividly displayed. It is painting with lines, capturing the light by using the shadow. With charcoal a great pictoriality and plasticity can be achieved. Moreover, it is a long and challenging learning process, to achieve a high technicality only with the help of line, in which composition, perspective, proportion, light incidence and emotion appear in harmony on paper and suggest a high degree of intuitiveness and spontaneity.
