About The Artist


I was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, but finished high school in the US. I earned a B.A. in Art History and German in 1984 with a minor in Visual Arts at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. In 1987, I received a Graduate Certificate in Fine Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I am the recipient of the 2012 Fellowship in painting from the New York Foundation for the Arts. My work was recently published in the magazine, Studio Visit, Vol. 16 as well the New American Paintings, Issue 98 ¬¬in 2012. Other awards include a Latin American Artist Award, ARTnews Award, and honorable mentions in national and international exhibitions. I was a finalist for the 2004 Alexander Rutsch Award for painting. In 2011, I was awarded a scholarship from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA): Boot Camp- Artist as an Entrepreneur. I have had solo shows in Panama, New York City, Los Angeles, Indiana and upstate New York and have been in group shows and juried competitions curated by people as Judy Pfaff, Jack Shainaman (Jack Shainaman Gallery) and Jim Kempner (OK Harris Gallery). I presently live and work in New York.
