About The Artist

I am a wildlife artist, native of the state of Connecticut. I began my art career in the 1970’s, focusing mainly on pet portraiture. By 1980 I was also painting wildlife, in particular the wolves that I had come to know in my association with a wolf ambassador program here in Connecticut. I have continued through the years to enjoy the challenge of the depiction of animals, both wild and domestic, in my artwork. I have exhibited in the last 25 years in art shows throughout the New England and Pennsylvania and my work can also be found at the Mountainside Gallery in West Dover, Vermont. I am a member of the Connecticut Pastel Society and Vice President of the Tobacco Valley Artists Association. Commissions have included the illustration of the Wolf Pack Tarot Card Deck for Robert Petro as well as the cover illustration for his book 'Windspirit' and in June of 2010 completed eight 8' x 8' murals depicting the town of Stafford Springs, CT in the early 19th century; they are located at the intersection of Routes 140 and 190 in downtown Stafford Springs. Awards include 2nd place at the Fine Art Friends Exhibit 6th Annual Exhibition in Chicopee, MA, 2nd Place Award and People’s Choice Award at the Tobacco Valley Artists' Association Spring 2010 Members Show and 1st Place at the TVAA Fall Member Show in 2010. I also enjoy doing demonstrations of my animal art in pastel. I work primarily in pastel and also oil paint; I am a self-taught artist; my ability to ‘capture’ life on paper is a humbling gift. My inspiration is drawn upon a lifetime of observation in the woods and natural areas of New England and beyond, where I have been fortunate enough to catch glimpses of the wildlife that find their way into my paintings. The balance and harmony of the natural world brings more ‘rhyme and reason’ to my world and evolves at my easel. The expression of these experiences and observations with my pastels is a lifelong challenge; my artwork is an invitation into that world as well as a tribute to the domestic animals that travel with us.
