The turquoise blue colour of the sea, typical of a coral reef, can be seen on the left. The white trace of the waves begins broadly in the foreground and tapers towards the horizon, creating a strong depth effect. The colour palette of the picture is dominated by different shades of blue - from deep navy blue to light, almost turquoise tones. The contrast between the dark water and the light sky, as well as the white trail, gives the painting a dramatic effect. This painting conveys a sense of vastness, movement and the power of the sea.
