About The Artist

George studied art at West Ham College in East London before training in drama and embarking on a thirty year career in film, TV and theatre. It was only when George moved to East Sussex that he returned to art, inspired, in abstract form by the expansive sky, weather beaten coastline and ever changing seascapes. He is essentially driven by abstract expressionism, playing with the balance of chance and control, chaos and order. "I’m trying to tap into my subconscious. I start with only a loose intention, allowing the piece to evolve through numerous generations. I want the painting to end with the idea rather than start with it. I like people to see different things in the finished work and the greater the number of interpretations the better.
