About The Artist
A naturalized Texan, Melody Locke
creates fine art prints using traditional and alternative photographic
processes. Her portfolio includes stunning B&W and infrared film prints
developed in a traditional wet darkroom. She also employs non-camera
photographic processes, such as lumen printing, to create vibrant and ethereal
images from botanical material and negatives.
Melody's studio is located in the Houston Arts District at Silver Street Studios at Sawyer Yards. She invites the public to her studio every second and third Saturday of the month. On most weekdays, you can find her in her studio during the early afternoon, and she is more than happy to schedule appointments to accommodate other times.
Melody graduated from the
University of Houston and began her long-term association with the Museum of
Fine Arts, Houston Glassell School of Art, in 2007. She is an active member of
local arts organizations and has served on the board of Women in the Visual and
Literary Arts since 2018. Melody and her husband live in Houston and are
dutiful servants to Maggie, their cat.
