Interconnections and relationships, between man and nature, man and man, and man and himself, are the underlying concerns in the paintings of Chennai-based artist Darshana Bajaj. “In our striving for personal glory, most of us choose to ignore a basic truth – oneness.’’ Working mostly in oils, Darshana explores different styles and mediums to find fresh ways to express her personal and spiritual journey through life, and her philosophical bent of mind. Naturally drawn to art from childhood, and even though her inclination led her to a theoretical Masters degree in the History of Fine Arts from Stella Maris College in 1994, it was albeit a late homecoming for this largely self-taught artist, when almost a decade later, at the age of 30, she decided to follow her passion and become a full-time artist.
