About The Artist

CV Katarina Fagerström-Levring Katarina Fagerstrom Levring is a visual artist and photographer. Art, and later photography, has been an interest since her childhood. During many years water media were her main focus until digital photography, and the Lensbaby Composer entered her world. Today experimental, abstract, and close-up photography of especially flowers is her passion. She uses different flowers as energizing sources of forms and colors through which she creates her unique art. She finds that abstracting the subject is an exciting way to follow her vision. To quote Georgia O´Keeffe, ‘Art is not what you see, but what you make others see’. Her work is a result of sensitive and highly intuitive experiments with light and/or motion, with the tools she uses. She works mainly in her studio in the solitude she needs to be able to enter the contemplative state of mind, her work - as well as her life with a Bipolar 1 Disorder - relies upon. Photo Impressionism is the style which her work most resembles. There is one exception though, she does not use any post-production to enhance or edit her images, with the exception from the necessary cropping or resizing. The images are what they are from the moment. she has closed the shutter. Her favorite tools today are the Canon 5D Mark II digital camera with the Lensbaby Composer and selected optics and macro filters. The artist lives and works from her studio at home in Kungsbacka, Sweden. The artist is married to a "wonderful guy" who supports her career as well as her struggles with her Bipolar 1 Disorder. The couple also have a dog called Eddie.
