About The Artist
I am an artist born in Istanbul, in 1978 who decided to pursue a career in arts after training to be a dental technician. I studied Fine Arts and did my Masters in Art Education and then I am qualified to teach at all levels of high school and currently give private lessons to pupils in preparation for their portfolios for art school entry exams. For many years, I took art therapy workshops from professional art therapists such as Marcia Plevin, Rina Lerner Büberoğlu and Michael Franklin. Since 2018 I am the member of Art Pyschotherapy Association in Istanbul. Since June 2019 I belong to Art Therapy Workshops teaching group of Istanbul Sanatla Yaşam. I use these art therapy techniques in my teaching and I organize art workshops to groups besides giving private art lessons to primary school pupils.
In my artworks I use various techniques and mediums which include oil/acrylic painting on canvas; silk, wood, stone, zinc, foam and eraser printing. I make sculptures from wood, iron, clay and wires, and I work on photo projects and animated videos.
The recurring theme in my art works are ‘relationships’. Conflicts with women in my life – including myself – my mom, my sister and my girlfriends constitute the core of my art.
I love studying women figures; characteristics of a person, gestures, similarities, diversities and reflect my own interpretation of these in my works using colors and various mediums.
I am currently based in my home studio where is in Nişantaşı, Istanbul and where I’m working on my paintings and I am pursuing my sculpture projects.
