About The Artist

Behind every painting is a story. Early in my life my family owned a paint store that included a section with art supplies and books about drawing and painting architecture, landscapes, and figures. I spent many hours in that section of the store drawing and painting. While serving in Europe with the U.S. Army, I traveled and continued sketching and painting with wash & ink. For the next 30 years I worked in professional development primarily with architects and other design industry professionals - occasionally drawing. While working at the American Institute of Architects in Washington, DC, I had the good fortunate to travel extensively, visiting architectural sites in all 50 U.S. states, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and several Pacific Rim countries. The cultures, architecture and arts of these locations continue to influence my selection of subjects, compositions and colors. In 2011 I began taking classes and workshops at the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia. In addition, I've supplemented the more formal studies with self-study and social media options.
