About The Artist
Los Angeles artist Michaela Hughes is an award winning painter who has exhibited in numerous galleries and museums. In Los Angeles: The Brand Library Art Center, TAG Gallery, Bg Gallery at the Bergamot Station, LAUNCH LA, Topanga Canyon Art Gallery, San Fernando Museum, Loveland Museum (Colorado) and CAMUS - Museum Camuno in Breno, Italy. She is a member of Los Angeles Art Association & Woman Painters West and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Who’s Who in America for her achievements in the arts.
She has been involved in a variety of creative endeavors since childhood – starting out as a child actress in numerous plays and her first film was playing John Wayne’s niece in “Hellfighters”
She went on to a successful ballet career – dancing Principal and Soloist roles with American Ballet Theatre and Feld Ballet in NYC and the Houston Ballet. She returned to acting and combined with her dance skills performed in 5 Broadway shows playing Cassie in A Chorus Line; Gloria Upson in Mame; Charity in Anything Goes; Peggy Porterfield in On Your Toes; and the Nurse in Raggedy Ann.
Ms. Hughes has been seen in over 100 Commercials, well-known Rock Videos, Soap Operas, Films and Television appearances including Saturday Night Live, Dancing in America, The Kennedy Center Honors among others.
She has turned her creativity to directing short films – several of which have been recognized in Independent Film Festivals.
All of these experiences influence her painting: in form as a dancer, in dramatics as an actor and in style as a director.
