About The Artist

Acrylic painter, Sandy Tracey, is beginning to spread her wings. Sandy’s work has been exhibited in the Phoenix Metropolitan area as well as throughout the state of Arizona over the past 10 years. She has participated in the Hidden in the Hills for five years, and then took a hiatus when she moved to the Sedona area for a short while. Having returned to the Valley & able to participate in Hidden in the Hills again, she is looking forward to showing her latest works. Many people know Sandy’s work by her ‘Cactus of a Different Color’ Series… which are bold & bright interpretations of saguaro cactus. When painting her saguaros, she never paints them in the colors found in nature. Sandy is also expanding on her ‘Route 66’ Series of paintings of vintage cars. With her newest additions, she has been invited to participate with 2 other artists in the Concourse d’Elegance Art Show at the Walter Greer Gallery in Hilton Head, South Carolina in October 2012. This is a great honor, since it is ‘by invitation only’ exhibition. There will be a large car show & auction being held at the same time as the show & should garnish a lot of attention. While Sandy was living in Sedona, she also started a ‘Painting a Day Blog’, in which she painted each and every day for one entire year, then posted her original paintings on her blog for a very reasonable price. The paintings are small, ranging from 5” x 7” to 11” 17”, with all produced in less than an hour & a half. Subject matter changed frequently as she took suggestions from friends & family. Sandy had people purchasing her paintings from her blog, online from all over the United States & England. Her painting a Day Blog site is: www.traceypaintingaday.blogspot.com “Getting started on such a project (as the Painting a Day Blog) was overwhelming at first, but, after the first two weeks, I got up each day looking forward to completing a painting. This approach has allowed me to try new techniques and subject matter as well as improve my ability to compose, draw & paint in a quick manner.” ~ Sandy Tracey “I am looking forward to the next chapter in my art career. I am hoping to find several galleries around the U.S. that would be interested in representing me.” Sandy’s work has garnished many awards through the years, and many individuals have commissioned her to do portraits of their classic cars. Several people have requested a cactus in a certain color scheme, and others love her pet portraits. Sandy finds if fun to capture the personality of the pet… just being their adorable, loveable selves.
