About The Artist


Born in Sweden, Rose-Marie Goodwin (Johnsen, née Svenhard) came to Canada's west coast as a child. Creative and artistic in her core, she has an innate sense of colour and has been influenced by the great artists: O'Keeffe, Hopper, Gavazzi, Degas and Caravaggio. When asked what she hopes to instill with her viewers: "With images of dramatic light and colour, I strive to encourage in life’s day-to-day walk." An accomplished colourist, her own style developed in formal training including the Emily Carr and Capilano Universities in Vancouver; at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; in select workshops with accomplished artists; and painting, painting, painting (Malcolm Gladwell's 10,000 hours). Rose-Marie has received numerous awards for her art, and is a popular public and inspiring speaker. Her solo exhibits have included at the Bellevue Gallery and the Silk Purse Gallery in West Vancouver. Juried Group Shows include the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) in Vancouver; Sidney Fine Arts Show; Kelowna Art Visions; Tsawwassen Longhouse; Regent College; and the Ferry Building Galleries. Her work has sold in Canada, Washington, Oregon, California, Texas, Michigan, the Carolinas, Florida, Belgium and Sweden.
