About The Artist
[This is a short version. Full original bio can be found at www.marilenarango.com].
Marilena Rango was born in Cassano Ionio, in the southern Italy. She moves to Florence first, and then to Neaples, where she takes a degree in Architecture at “Federico II” University. Being a very sensitive person and attracted by anything which represents an expression of art, she couldn't not be fascinated by the art of building. That's why she goes beyond the simple study and the achievement of her degree, developing research activities and collaborating at the university at the department of “Composition and architectural design”. Thereby a conscious inner merging between painting and design was born . These are two of which Leon Battista Alberti defines the three major arts: painting, architecture and sculpture. It's maybe this process of inner awareness joined to the creative restlessness and the need of creating which only an artist can completely understand that unites the artists to God that induces her to slow down with her job, and reduce what pointless surrounded her, to devote with renewed transport and determination towards the artistic language which most of all she has always loved and by which she could express best herself: the painting. So she starts to exhibit her paintings at solo and groups exhibitions. Besides she has collaborated for a long time with the Club UNESCO Neaples. Notable is her selection at the 1° International BIENNALE of art in Palermo, where she has taken part by exposing her work of art “Scivolando sull'onda dei sogni” (“Slipping on the wave of dreams”). By this participation she had the opportunity to get new motivations, new sources of inspiration thanks to the contact with other artists from over 50 different countries and with two very important art critics such as Vittorio Sgarbi and Paolo Levi. Recently she has participated at the “Festival delle Belle Arti e della Cultura del XXI secolo”, held at the L. Bellini Museum in Florence, during which she was given the title of “Maestro del Giglio Aureo”. Marilena Rango's painting is a realistic and figurative one where almost always the woman is the absolute protagonist of the canvas, idealized in her daily beauty through an aesthetic and chromatic objectivity which strongy gives a message of brightness and gaiety. A reality of perfect harmony and beauty where the evil is not contemplated. It is kept away, far from this world of art in which even God is part of it, as John Paul II says in his letter to the artists.
