This breathtaking oil painting captures the majestic beauty and grace of a great egret in flight. The movement and dynamics of the flying heron have been masterfully captured. The outstretched wings are painted with wonderful detail. The tension in the legs and the slight tilt of the head convey a sense of power and purpose. Through the targeted use of light and shadow, as well as the soft transitions in the white and silver tones, the bird appears to be formed from pure light. The oil on velvet technique is very rarely used as it is very complex and difficult.
