About The Artist

Email- rmehta44@yahoo.com Website- rajendramehta.blogspot.com Painting, for me, is a form of meditation. When I paint, I am in “Samadhi,” which Hindus believe is the state when a person is so focused that he is completely unaware of his surroundings and even himself. I am fascinated by this concept; my paintings attempt to reflect the flexibility and adaptability of the human mind and form. I draw on my own life experiences, as well as from various cultures, yoga forms, and spiritual teachings for my subject matter. As such, my technique is often very raw, many of my oil paintings are created using only a knife. Although I do not have formal education in art, I was awarded an Academy Award in India for my painting when I was 17 years old. I have learned to paint by self effort and from friends that are professional artists. I traveled extensively and lived in India, Africa and United States. I currently live in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA. Recent shows- Titled “ Emotions and Nature” at following locations in India.
