About The Artist

A Tokyo native Yui chose bag design as her expression of art. Her meticulously hand-made bags are truly one-of-a-kind. She is an artisan with a distinctively modern interpretation. Her design inspirations come from religious and royal arts and artifacts. She appreciates subtle craftsmanship of such arts from all art forms. These arts and artifacts have been used for thousands of years throughout human history to comfort and uplift our emotions and spirits. At the same time, these are used by the patrons of art to express power, wealth and authority. She is fascinated by how art represents such intricate issues throughout history. Our lives are filled with commercialized mass produced products. Yui firmly believes that hand-made products with unique design have place and purpose in the world. She hopes that her bags serve as a conduit of daily artistic expression for the hand bag holder and for Yui herself. Her goal is to be a part of a niche business in the art world. She is a graduate of Japan's premier design institute, Bunka Fashion College. Bunka Fashion College produced world renowned designers, such as Yoji Yamamoto and Kenzo. During her studies Yui chose leather as her medium. To fulfill her vision, she studied under the school's master leather craftsman for leather treatments through the study of anatomy and chromatics. Upon graduation, she furthered her design skills in leather products at an all-handmade boutique leather studio in Tokyo. After leaving the boutique studio, Yui became an independent bag artist.
