Ayla Yeşilmen
A Self-taught Watercolor Artist &Urbansketcher
She completed primary and secondary school in Germany and high school education in Iskenderun. In 1987, she graduated from Akdeniz University, Burdur Vocational School, Mechanical-Drawing-Construction and in 1992 from Gazi University, Gazi Education Faculty, English Language Teaching  Department. During the first academic year, she continued Art History and Painting as an elective course under the presidency of Cengiz SAVAŞ, Faculty of Fine Arts lecturer. In 1997, she was influenced by the Watercolour Artist  Sabri AKÇA and turned towards watercolor works.
During her teaching career she participated in many group  exhibitions (in Ankara, Nevşehir, İskenderun,Izmir,İzmit and İstanbul). Her  works were exhibited in festivals and contests held by the International Watercolor Society (in Ukraine, Albania, England ,Türkiye, Poland and Switzerland). She joined in the Urbansketchers Symposium in Amsterdam in 2019.
She participated in 2 -days workshop in Paris in 2019.She was  selected  as Exhibition Catalogue Artist in Fabriano in Aquarello Festival in 2020. During the pandemic period, she participated with her works in online group exhibitions, auctions and various social responsibility projects. She participated in 2021 ArtAnkara 7th Contemporary Art Fair in Ankara and  2021 ArtContact Contemporary Art Fair in İstanbul .On 23rd January 2023 she participated   in IWS Türkiye 11th Anniversary and held a live workshop in Izmir.In August 2023 she took part in USK Poland Plein-Air Sketching Event in Ŝwidnica.On 23rd January 2024 she participated  to  the IWS Germany Mini Festival and the Celebration 12th Anniversary of IWS in Essen and  performed a live  demo in watercolor.
On 25-29 April 2024 she took part in the                " Fabriano in Watercolor" Festival in Bologna/Italy. She is a selected Watercolor Artist of FabrianoinAquarello  2024 .She  participated in the Comtemperary Art Fair  on 20-25 August 2024 in Bodrum with her artworks.
She  mainly likes to transfer ancient buildings, statues ,reliefs  and any other objects made of stone from real life onto paper using special techniques  of watercolor  to give the  feeling of stone  in a realistic way.
She also likes painting natural scenes, boats, old wooden houses,colorful wild birds and cats  in her  own style.
She is a  member of  the IWS(İnternational Watercolor Society) , ART-IST(Istanbul Watercolour Society) , Fabriano in Aquarelle  and Urbansketchers of Türkiye .
