Life on the streets is an extremely dangerous and very harsh for every child who lives there. It is a devastating reality that no child, should have to endure. In this painting, the youngster sits in deep, yet saddened thoughts of his painful reality of severe verbal and physical abuse, mental anguish and physical agony from unspeakable sexual exploits, degrading jobs that many times he does not get paid for. He sails on a river of tears that stems from a broken and abusive home. Memories that he can never escape from, only when in a shut of an eye he escapes for a brief second to envision a life of normalcy where love and care envelops him like a warm blanket that protect him from the cold. Through blood shot eyes filled with tears and a broken body covered with scars and bruises, he sits on his cardboard box bed, the empty pot half buried as he envisions a glimmer of hope. Hope that one day he will be rescued and taken to a place of security and protection, with a warm bed and home cook meals from a family who knows and shows love and compassion on a daily basis. No more running on a line of broken dreams. No more anguish from a broken heart. No more cuts, bruises, disfigured, battered and swollen with recent scars body and no more rags for clothing; But a Phoenix rising from ashes with strong beautiful wings, to carry him far away to a new life abundant in love and victory.
