“Hardscrabble Creek”

0.0 x 0.0

Family photos from the 1800’s show my great grandparents riding in a carriage pulled by horses along this rock formation which was located on their Hardscrabble Creek homestead in northeastern Montana. They ranched the entire drainage of Hardscrabble Creek to the mouth seen here as it enters the Missouri River. Many families went broke during the hard freeze of the winter of 1887/88. My family moved on to Gumbo Flats! (48”x48” oil on Baltic birch panel) $6800
