About The Artist
“PARTY” in the 21st century
„Parta“ – a decorative headband, once the most important and beautiful element of the festive clothing of Slovak girls in the 19th and 20th centuries, becomes the central element of the unique art project created by Ľubomír Sabo, Zuzana Senášová, Sarah I. Avni and Katarína Chabrečeková. The main goal is to re-create these Slovak gems, which are unfortunately slowly falling into forgotten, using eye-catching and modern artistic portraits. The project goes through a number of artistic performances, mapping the diversity and variety of almost endless traditional parties and headbands from all over Slovakia.
Original portraits are a combination of photography, canvas painting and facepainting. The artistic duo of LSZ Photography / Ľubomír Sabo & Zuzana Sénášiová / in accordance with the traditions and customs of the ancestors, photographed only young, single and childless girls. By the means of modern expression, painting on the face originated from the traditional ornaments of folk clothing, to which a specific „parta“ belonged. Acrylic paint by artist Sarah I. Avni made unique background photographs based on folk elements of individual villages and regions of collected „party“. The result transforms into attractive images representing the abundance and diversity of Slovak folk heritage.
Each painting from this limited edition has the Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and will be made only in three dimensions: 60x90cm, 80x120cm and 120x180cm.
The collection is constantly expanding with new paintings under the supervision of Katarína Chabrečeková - ethnologist and co-author of the whole project, who initiated the idea of raising awareness of almost forgotten „party“.
