FICTIONAL MEMORIES
Lisa Powers, Photographic Artist
FICTIONAL MEMORIES began as a re-creation of WanRong, the last Empress of China, who had a short, tragic life, captured by the Soviet army, abandoned by her husband, Emperor PuYi, addicted to opium, and died alone in prison at age 39. In creating these images, the range expanded to many other women who also lived short tragic lives controlled by powerful men.
