Through the majestic scenery offered by the Castellana Caves, an ode to the collective memory of mankind emerges, a journey undertaken in the obscurity of centuries, with the intention of rediscovering ancestral symbols and concepts now buried in the past and evoking emotions linked to human history. Universal archetypes come to life against a backdrop of stalactites and stalagmites, personified by the plastic figures of monks and vestals, the latter illuminated by a five-candle candelabrum, symbolising the five elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. Through the fusion of a printed photograph and a bas-relief realised on canvas, the artists capture the primordial essence of the archetypes, making an exploration into humanity's past, present and future. "Archetypes in oblivion" invites the viewer to explore the human soul in the dark and against the light, to plunge into the abyss of the collective unconscious, symbolised by the depths of the caves that, like a mother's womb, awaken ancient memories and prompt the search for an intimate understanding of our human nature. The works, steeped in symbolism and mystery, are an invitation to reflect on what makes us human and how we can connect with our deepest roots of the past. The works born from the collaboration of Andrea Benetti and Dario Binetti are photographs created with the double-shot technique, printed with polymerised U.V.ray powder on bas-reliefs made of plaster on canvas, to evoke the imperfection of the rock face.

A La Spezia, sopra la Cattedrale di Cristo Re, nella prima piazzola panoramica del Parco delle Mura, è stata collocata l'installazione permanente, realizzata da Andrea Benetti in acciaio anodizzato ed alluminio, intitolata “Timeless shapes”. A partire dalla Preistoria, l'uomo comunicava e lasciava traccia di sé, anche attraverso dei simboli ed il significato che era a loro attribuito, non sempre oggi èè codificabile. Dipinti o incisi sulle pareti rocciose delle caverne, nel corso della storia, molti di questi simboli sono scomparsi, altri hanno consolidato la loro notorietà ed altri ancora si sono aggiunti, integrandosi a quelli del passato. “Timeless shapes” (Forme senza tempo), così li chiamò Stafano Bonaga, ad un tavolino di un bar a Bologna, mentre Andrea Benetti gli parlava del progetto.

A Milano, dal 18 novembre al 2 dicembre presso lo Spazio Theoria, sarà allestita la mostra PREHISTORIC WAVE di Andrea Benetti Le opere di Andrea Benetti, realizzate con pigmenti di 40mila anni fa, rinvenuti nella grotta di Fumane (VR) insieme a cinque pitture rupestri su pietra, instaurano un dialogo, che evidenzia le similitudini tra la comunicazione visuale della Preistoria e l'odierno linguaggio digitale, creando un ponte ideale tra l’artista del Terzo Millennio e il suo “collega” del Paleolitico.

La mostra intitolata Colors in Venice, curata dal professor Francesco Paolo Campione, nasce dall'invito della Fondazione Giacomo Casanova ad Andrea Benetti, ad essere il primo artista ad esporre nella nuova sede veneziana della Fondazione, situata nel centralissimo sestiere di San Marco, nello storico Palazzo Zagùri. Oltre ad essere onorato dal prestigioso invito, è subentrato per Andrea Benetti il legame affettivo e professionale, che lo lega alla città lagunare fin dal 2009, quando ha presentato alla 53. Biennale di Venezia, all'Università Ca' Foscari, il Manifesto dell'Arte Neorupestre.

Andrea Benetti's exhibition, entitled “Timeless shapes”, curated by Elisa Mazzagardi, will be set up in the exhibition halls of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia Romagna Regional Council, from September 28, to October 12, 2021. With this exhibition, Benetti wants to highlight the prehistoric origin of abstract art, underlining how widespread the use of recurring symbols was in it, comparable to today's digital iconography. Andrea Benetti inspires his art to the prehistoric one, which already contained within itself the future pictorial currents, then taken up by man in the course of history and made his own starting from the last millennia, up to the 1900s. Picasso himself, on a visit to the famous Cantabrian caves, said: "After Altamira, everything is decadent."
