Tribute to the Great Masters

timcwethy@att.net Over several past years I have been working on a series of paintings “Tribute to the Great Masters”. This includes paintings such as “Behind the Drape”, “Message of the Universe”, “Caravaggio or the Back of the Canvas”, “Van Gogh's Palette”, “Transformations”, “In Search of Beauty”, “Welcome to My World” and more. As a matter of fact, interest in this topic began in the mid-nineties, when I studied techniques of Great Masters and various painting styles under the guidance of one of the leading restorers of the State Hermitage Museum, Sergei Alexandrovich Kiselyov. My copying experience and issues related to the history of art, problems of mass culture resulted in a series of artworks where I try to connect the tradition of art of the past with the present www.timcwethy.com
