Yellow Iris
Lela
SEPTEMBER 14, 2012
I was lucky my visit to Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington coincided with a really fine weather and the Irises were in full bloom... in all their breathtaking glory... How could I resist painting them!
I had once read that the word iris means “rainbow”, it was named after a Greek Goddess who is considered the messenger of love and uses the rainbow to travel. In this watercolor painting I have tried to capture the spirit of this beauty...the space and atmosphere around the flower ... and the luminosity and softness of the petals.
I hope you like it and it brings a smile to your eyes.
